Garden Activity

Each time a garden newsletter is sent out this year, there will be an activity that you can participate in for the chance to win a $10 gift card to Pine View Dairy!

For this first activity, the garden committee is asking that you reach in to the garden of your mind and draw a picture or write a short poem that describes how you’re enjoying the school you are in this year.  Please include one thing that you will be looking forward to be able to plant again next year in Conestoga’s brand new garden!

If you write a poem, here are some ideas to help you get started:

  • Write an acrostic poem using the name of something from the garden. It could be a fruit, vegetable, compost, flower type, butterfly, etc.
  • Write a descriptive poem using your five senses.
  • Write a haiku about some part of the garden.
  • Write a poem that forms the shape of a favorite fruit, vegetable, or flower.

Please turn in your photo or poem to your school’s office by this Friday, January 6th. Included with your submission must be a paper that gives your full name and grade/teacher.  On Tuesday, January 10th, I’ll be drawing a winner from all of the submissions.  Enjoy the entries below.

2nd Garden Activity

Each time a garden newsletter is sent out this year, there will be an activity that you can participate in for the chance to win a $10 gift card to Pine View Dairy!

For this second activity, the garden committee is asking that you reach in to the garden of your mind and create your own recycled birdfeeder. Find any materials you might otherwise have thrown away or recycled, like plastic bottles, cans, cartons, wood scraps – anything you can find – and turn them into a feeder for your feathered friends.

Send in a picture to show your class what you’ve done, and sign the participation sheet in your school’s office to be entered to win the $10 Pine View Gift Card.  The deadline to enter is Friday, 3/31/17!  Mrs. Williams will draw the winner on Tuesday, April 4th.

(If you need birdseed for your feeder, bags will be available for you in your school’s office).
