At Conestoga Elementary we test our water daily for nitrate levels. Today for the first time since I have been here it tested slightly higher than is allowed, so for the time being we are going to have the students drink bottled water. Higher than normal levels are not safe for children under 6 months to drink. Even though our population is obviously over 6 months, I would rather provide bottled water until we test below the allowed range. Today a letter is coming home with your student that explains in more detail why levels of nitrates sometimes reach a higher level. We will test our water again tomorrow and again everyday when we come back from the holiday weekend to make sure our levels have gone back to our normal levels.
