Follow up to Winter Illnesses

As you may have heard, a suspected case of mumps had been identified at Conestoga.  After consulting with the CDC, we began the process of notifying parents late yesterday.  We started with the parents of students that may have had some direct contact with the affected student.  At this point, we feel it might be helpful to release the information to all our parents.  While vaccination is highly effective against mumps, it is still possible to contract the illness.  The students most at risk for contracting the illness are those not immunized or only partially immunized.  At this time, we don’t have any other reported cases.  If you have any concerns, please contact your family doctor for additional information.  mumps_school_letter General letter Conestoga Jan 2015Mumps Fact Sheet 2015 (1)
