Due to the weather forecast for this evening, the annual spring semester high school Parents’ Night originally scheduled for this evening is postponed. The high school parents’ night will now be held on Thursday, February 5th beginning at 6:45 pm in the high school auditorium.
Additionally, the K-12 early dismissal scheduled for Friday, January 30th is postponed until Friday, February 6th. All students in kindergarten through 12th grade will now be in school for a regular day tomorrow and will be have an early dismissal next Friday, February 6th.
As you may have heard, a suspected case of mumps had been identified at Conestoga. After consulting with the CDC, we began the process of notifying parents late yesterday. We started with the parents of students that may have had some direct contact with the affected student. At this point, we feel it might be helpful to release the information to all our parents. While vaccination is highly effective against mumps, it is still possible to contract the illness. The students most at risk for contracting the illness are those not immunized or only partially immunized. At this time, we don’t have any other reported cases. If you have any concerns, please contact your family doctor for additional information. mumps_school_letter General letter Conestoga Jan 2015Mumps Fact Sheet 2015 (1)
Although our custodians regularly clean the desks and classrooms, we decided to do some winter housecleaning today, based on a great parent suggestion.
Today while the students are at lunch/recess, all the desks and tables will be wiped down and disinfected.
Let’s hope that we get rid of these winter germs once and for all!
In case you have not heard, there is a possibility of a small amount of snow (1 to 2 inches) starting early Thursday evening. Friday is a scheduled early dismissal with no a.m. kindergarten (p.m. attends & has lunch at school).
HOWEVER, if Dr. Leichliter calls a 2 hour delay this Friday, we will be on the modified kindergarten schedule and BOTH kindergarten classes will attend and the early dismissal schedule changed to the following Friday.
With a two hour delay, modified kindergarten call, here are the hours:
- Morning kindergarten students will be dismissed at 12:45.
- Afternoon kindergarten can be dropped off between 1:35 & 1:40.
The missed early dismissal plan would simply shift to the following Friday, February 6th, with no a.m. kindergarten and p.m. attending & having lunch at school.
With another day of snow falling, our buses may be running late getting your child home. Bus 137 and 132 were a little later getting to school. Please be patient as our drivers will take longer today. Thank you.
All preschool children, age 3 to pre-K, along with their parent/guardian, are invited to join us at Conestoga Elementary for a preschool lunch and learn hour on Tuesday, February 10, from 11:30 to 12:30.
This once a month event will consist of story time, a craft, lunch, and a special visit to the library to check out books that will be returned the following month.
If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to the school office at 872-9535, by Friday, February 6. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Here is the schedule:
11:30 to 11:50 – lunch (no cost to child; Adult is $2.25) Lunch consists of a peanut butter sandwich/tossed salad/fruit/milk
11:50 to 12:10 – craft
12:10 to 12:30 – library
Just a reminder, when there is a 2 hour delay with modified kindergarten, the a.m. students will be picked up by their bus 2 hours later than normally picked up and be dismissed at 12:45 for parent pick up. Kindergarten does not have lunch at school.
Afternoon kindergarten can be dropped off between 1:35 and 1:40. School will start at 1:45 for them and they will be dismissed at our regular 3:25 dismissal time.
Don’t forget tonight is Movie Night at Conestoga Elementary 6 to 8 p.m.
