Letter from Southern Regional Police

This post is to inform you to be on the lookout for a letter that will be coming home with your child this week from the Southern Regional Police Department. The complete letter can be read by clicking the link below.

The police have developed a new program for Conestoga and Pequea Elementary Schools that involves assigning specific police officers to each classroom . Officers have always stopped at the schools and visited various classrooms, as well as eaten lunch with the students and even went out at recesses. But now the officers will stop by on a monthly basis an for a brief classroom meeting. The objective is to foster a positive and informative dialogue with the students on a variety of safety issues. Some of the topics will include internet safety, home safety, and outdoor safety.

Once the officers are assigned, you will receive a second letter with the name and contact information of that officer.

Girls on the Run 2014

We need coaches to keep Girls On The Run going in the spring of 2014.  If you are interested, please contact Conestoga teacher and GOTR Head Coach Larisa Garpstas.  Or check out the Girls On the Run Lancaster website at http://gotrlancaster.org/.  You are welcome to come visit a fall practice happening now on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00.

Girls on the Run of Lancaster is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use the power of running to educate and prepare girls in 3rd through 8th grades for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with a whole person approach:  physical, emotional, mental and social.  Our programs instill self-esteem through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships and physical training–all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community.

Pictures start at 9 a.m. sharp!
