Sixth Grade Egg Drop

On May 8th & 9th, Conestoga’s 6th grade Science class conducted an “Egg Drop” competition. Primarily focused on engineering a purposeful machine, the students designed and constructed egg-protecting machines that needed to be lightweight, as well as touch enough to survive drops from 1 meter, 5 meters and 10 meters. All of Conestoga’s 6th graders entered an invented device to the contest; however, Zach Banta’s design finished in first place, with Dylan Smith and Jagur Zimmerman finishing close behind. The 2013 Egg Drop offered the students a valuable lesson in engineering and a fun, creative way to display their scientific talents.
