Wonderful Start to the New School Year

I wanted to thank the PTO for the beautiful flowers and all the students and parents for such a great start to the school year.  I am very appreciative of all the warm welcomes and support I have received from both the staff and children and also the community members and parents I have come into contact with.  I am very happy to be part of such a wonderful school community and I am looking forward to a wonderful school year 🙂  Thank you,  Tamara Baker


STUDENTS” FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL is on Monday, August 27.  Busing information was previously sent out but if you have any questions, please feel free to call the school at 872-9535 or the transportation department at 872-9500 ext. 2236.  There is no school on 8/31 & 9/3.

An  Important Date for Your Calendar!

September 13th – “Meet the Teacher” from 4:30 to 6:30.  At 6:15 the PTO will host a “Meet & Greet” in the all-purpose room.  Please stop by to meet your PTO officers for the 2012-2013 school year.

The first early dismissal for the children will be Friday, September 14th, at 1:30.  There is no a.m. kindergarten that day. P.M. kindergarten students attend & have lunch at school.



CHIP! (Children’s Health Insurance Program)


Below is a link with information for PA CHIP.  CHIP now covers all uninsured kids and teens in Pennsylvania.  No family makes too much money to qualify for CHIP.


Important Bus Information for the 2011-2012 School Year

In the interest of safety and overcrowding of buses, the Penn Manor School District will be strictly enforcing the existing bus assignment procedures for the 2012-2013 school year. Students are assigned to one AM bus and one PM bus and will not be permitted to ride a different bus unless the student and his/her family move to another residence in the school district.

Please be aware that this change will also be in place during early dismissals.

Letters informing parents of their student’s bus stop for the 2012-2013 school year have been mailed. The bus routes will be posted on the transportation website, www.pennmanor.net/transportation, on Tuesday, August 21.

Student Accident Insurance

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT DOES NOT CARRY MEDICAL INSURANCE ON STUDENTS, but does provide you with a primary excess group insurance plan that:

Provides coverage for travel to and from school as well as coverage for accidents while participating in Intramural Sports, Gym and Physical Education classes.

  • Pays benefits directly to you or the doctor or hospital.
  • Optional coverage includes Extended Dental.
  • Worldwide coverage under the 24-hour plan provides coverage at school, weekends, summer vacations, home, and play.

Individual Voluntary Student Program Cost per Year

  1. 24 Hour Coverage                      $ 116.00
  2. School-Time Coverage               $   30.00
  3. Dental Accident Insurance           $    8.50 with either of above plans

Cafeteria prices remain the same this year:

Elementary Lunch-$2.15                       Reduced Lunch-$.40                 Milk-$.60                  Adult Lunch-$3.50

Breakfast service will start the FIRST day of school on August 27, 2012.
