Dear Conestoga Students, Families, Faculty, Community Members ~
Thank you for the fantastic response to our annual holiday food/clothing/gift drive. Through your generosity, we were able to provide canned goods, turkeys and non-perishable items to over twenty-five Conestoga families. The school also received MANY donations of coats, hats, gloves, toys and gift cards that were distributed.
Due to various circumstances and tough economic conditions, it’s hard for families to provide necessities. Many of us never thought we would be facing the difficulties that now confront us. Knowing this, it is truly amazing that we have received such an abundance of goods.
On behalf of the staff of Conestoga Elementary, as well as the families who received assistance over the holiday season, thank you one and all for your kindness. We would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season and happy 2012.
Under the leadership of Christine Connelly, the Conestoga Girl Scout Troop contributed to a Veteran’s Appreciation Ceremony on November 11th. The school just received a commendation letter by the House of Representatives regarding the troop member’s participation and how it was critical to the success of the event, which the House sponsored.
The troop members arrived two hours in advance of the ceremony to prepare and become familiar with the program agenda. They braved the cold, windy weather to hold flags along the outside patio greeting our veterans and their families upon entering the building. This required seven girls at a time as they presented the United States and Pennsylvania flags, as well as flags representing the five branches of the military.
The troop members proudly took the stage at the beginning of the program to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The members of the Conestoga Girl Scout Troop worked with the members of the Chestnut Level Girl Scout Troop presenting medals to each veteran in attendance. Please enjoy some pictures of the event.
Below is a message that was sent to us from the Y.
The YWCA is celebrating the New Year’s Holiday on January 2nd so we will NOT be offering before, K wrap, or after school care that day. This is a regular school day for Penn Manor so parents will be expected to pick up their children or have them sent home on the buses.

Conestoga Elementary has a Daisy Girl Scout troop that meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 3:30 to 5 p.m.. Why not come out and be part of scouting? Through scouting, girls can develop qualities that will serve them all their lives – leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Since 1912, Girl Scouts has built girls of “courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place”.
If you are interested in signing up for the Daisy troop at Conestoga, please contact Laurie Mackison at 872-1341.

Once again our wonderful PTO has come up with a very cool idea. They are selling Conestoga car magnets for $5. The magnets are 5 inches in diameter and have the Penn Manor blue and gold logo in the center.
If you can’t use it on your car, buy one for your refrigerator. They make a nice gift for a friend or relative. An order form was sent home with your child, but they will also be available to purchase at the Santa Shoppe this Saturday, December 10th from 9 to noon. Show your school pride and don’t miss the chance to purchase a magnet. Thank you for your continued support of our PTO, who provides assemblies and help offset field trip costs for the students at Conestoga Elem.
Friday was an exciting day at Conestoga Elementary. The PTO treated the students to two assemblies performed by Kitty Jones of Kit’s Interactive Theatre. Primary grades enjoyed Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother and Intermediate students had a taste of Colonial Life in 1730.
As each show unfolds, some audience members (students & teachers alike) are woven into the plot. Kitty’s continual audience participation is enjoyed by all. She uses historical props and costumes and the improvised humor make each show a unique performance.
The assemblies were thoroughly enjoyable, education, and fun! Thank you PTO for the enrichment to our school year.
